Quality Control Lab Manager - Marshall, MN Job Summary: This position is responsible for managing daily and long-term activities of the Quality Control laboratory in the Marshall, MN Corn Processing Facility. This position will provide leadership to the Quality Control team, as well as plan and deploy continuous improvement opportunities for lab instrumentation, procedures, and colleagues. This position will facilitate lab output of timely and reliable data, for the purpose of controlling and monitoring processes, as well as ensuring Quality and Food Safety compliance of finished products. This position reports to the plant's Quality Food Safety Manager. Primary Job Functions: Lead QC lab Safety program and help facilitate ADM Safety initiatives. Ensure compliance of all laboratory colleagues with Safety, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures. Manage laboratory personnel staffing, performance and professional development. Ensure training, proficiency, and development of laboratory technicians in all aspects of in-process and finished product testing, including intra and inter-lab proficiency programs. Facilitate development, approval, implementation and maintenance of laboratory records, policies and procedures, adhering to applicable food/feed standards and regulations, as well as ADM Quality initiatives. Ensure standardization, maintenance and optimization of QC lab data inputs and outputs, including analytical testing schedules for both internal and external testing, as well as key performance indicators and metrics for success. Oversee selection, installation, validation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Collaborate with QA and Operations leadership to ensure lab colleague education on, and compliance with, applicable food/feed safety protocols and expectations. Assist in root cause analysis for Quality and Food Safety non-compliance. Drive contamination troubleshooting efforts in fermentation processes. Provide technical consultation to Operations team for product analysis. Collaborate with other ADM locations on laboratory troubleshooting, improvement and standardization objectives. Arrange and help provide troubleshooting support to the QC lab on weekends, holidays and outside of regular business hours. Job Qualifications: Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or similar science field is preferred. 5 years of laboratory experience in a food or pharmaceutical setting preferred. Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and feedback. Good leadership skills and experience facilitating cross-functional team activities. Desire to see continuous improvement in processes and programs. Ability to troubleshoot standard lab equipment (HPLC, GCs, NIR, Protein analyzers, Titrators etc.) required. Ability to work as a team member and independently. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Working knowledge of Statistics desired. Working knowledge of cGMP, cGLP, ISO, USP-NF, FCC, HACCP desired.
