The Quality Control Inspector position conducts origination inspection of incoming parts and supplies used for manufacture of products. Ensures all new and refurbished work meets engineering, client and ASME requirements. The inspector checks for accuracy and performs in-process dimensional measurement of machined and/or fabricated parts using acceptable measuring devices and standards. Additionally, the inspector prepares completed units for shipment by installing or applying name plates, lettering, or others as required. Layout or fit-up inspections are performed when requested, along with hardness tests and visual inspections. Bundle inspections such as skeletal assembly, in-process and final inspections before tube loading and insertion into shell are also part of the responsibilities. Non-code NDE testing is performed using acceptable procedures and standards, and the inspector sets up and performs assignments based on shop practices and procedures. After job completion, the QC data file is prepared ensuring accuracy and timeliness. The inspector uses prints to perform dimensional checks of completed parts and/or units, inspects all completed parts and components applying appropriate tags, and verifies heat lot numbers as material is brought into production. The role also involves overseeing and scheduling all NDE operations, tracking RT/UT jobs for the shop, ordering and maintaining NDE supplies as needed, attending morning and evening production meetings, coordinating QC from morning meetings and roll-over for night shifts, interacting with source inspectors as needed, generating inspection reports for repair jobs, and inspecting using gauges, coordinate measuring machines, scales, oscilloscopes, and vision prior to shipment.
