About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector – Hot Tap & Line Stop Fittings/Equipment is responsible for ensuring that all Hot Tap and Line Stop fittings, equipment, and materials meet company and customer quality requirements before deployment to the field. This position plays a key role in maintaining product integrity, ensuring compliance with quality standards, and supporting operational readiness at the service facility.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical degree preferred).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in Quality Control, preferably in pipeline equipment, pressure fittings, or mechanical fabrication/service environment.
  • Working knowledge of Hot Tap and Line Stop systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with inspection tools, dimensional verification, and material traceability requirements.
  • Basic understanding of ASME, API, or similar applicable codes and standards.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and MTRs.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Work performed in a service facility and warehouse environment.
  • Requires walking, standing, bending, and occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
  • May involve limited field visits for inspection or verification purposes.
  • Attention to Detail – Ensures accuracy and completeness in inspections and documentation.
  • Accountability – Takes ownership of quality and reliability of outgoing equipment.
  • Communication – Works effectively with Operations, Quality, and Field teams.
  • Organization – Maintains systematic records and traceability.
  • Technical Proficiency – Understands fitting components, materials, and sealing requirements

Responsibilities

  • Incoming Inspection:
  • Inspect and verify incoming materials, fittings, and components for conformance to purchase order requirements, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ensure all materials have proper documentation (MTRs, Certificates of Conformance, NDE reports, etc.).
  • Tag, label, and record material traceability information in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Verify Equipment used in the field is maintained and within acceptance requirements.
  • In-Process Inspection:
  • Perform in-process inspections during assembly, setup, and testing of Hot Tap and Line Stop equipment.
  • Inspect Pressure Testing Equipment prior to and during testing to verify cleanliness, correct setup, proper calibration, and pressure ratings.
  • Monitor test operations to ensure test parameters and safety requirements are being followed.
  • Verify that test data and results are properly recorded and meet acceptance criteria.
  • Document any nonconformances identified during in-process checks and coordinate corrective actions with Operations and Quality.
  • Outgoing Equipment Verification:
  • Inspect and verify that equipment and fittings going out to the field match the order and job requirements (size, rating, configuration, material, and accessories).
  • Check that correct documentation (drawings, pressure test reports, assembly sheets, inspection records, etc.) is included with each fitting before dispatch.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Field Technicians to resolve discrepancies prior to release.
  • Maintenance and Calibration Compliance:
  • Verify that all tools, pressure equipment, and service components are maintained and calibrated per the established maintenance program and schedule.
  • Ensure maintenance frequency compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Inventory Condition Control:
  • Conduct periodic inspections of fittings, seals, and other components in inventory to confirm they are in good condition and properly stored.
  • Pay special attention to sealing elements—ensure proper traceability, shelf-life control, and ventilation/storage conditions are maintained.
  • Identify and segregate damaged or expired items for review and disposition.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping:
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and traceability logs.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of job packets and ensure all required documentation accompanies fittings and equipment to the field.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist in nonconformance investigations as needed.
