About The Position

Production Quality Engineer (HL Mando America Corporation; Opelika, AL): Provide Advanced Product Quality Planning (PAPQ) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) guidance and support to facilities. Perform internal audits to find and correct quality gaps. Prepare and report Key Process Index (KPI’s) for performance review. Investigate and problem-solve through root cause analysis for internal and external quality concerns, focusing on permanent corrective actions. Ensure all products are manufactured in compliance with customer specifications, safety standards, and design specifications. Recommend corrective actions necessary to ensure conformity with specifications and standards. Ensure Corporate Quality processes are being followed and Quality Policy is adhered to throughout the manufacturing plant. Perform process capability studies and reduce process variation. Utilize Visual Management techniques (check sheets, laminated directions, etc.) to ensure operator understanding and compliance with standard methodology. Drive quality improvements, utilizing root cause analysis, process reviews and improvements, corrective actions, statistical process control, in process and final inspections, control gauges, test equipment, quality plans, and overall quality communications. Oversee quality of all in house manufactured parts. Coordinate all aspects of in-process inspections, including training as deemed necessary and compliance with Technical Specification quality systems. Evaluate and determine disposition of non-conforming materials and formulate corrective actions. Communicate with customer service, supplier quality, production engineering, and manufacturing personnel and management. Prepare PPAP/Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) documentation, facilitate run at rate activities, and conduct capability analysis studies. Participate in continuous improvement activities designed to reduce the cost of poor quality (Kaizen, Task Force Teams, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or related field.
  • Must have the following skills/experience: working in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment; using computer applications: CAD, CATIA, Fusion360, Inventor, and Arduino; using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook Express); working with quality function: customer service, metallurgy, and metrology; and working with quality analysis techniques: design of experiments and PPAP.
  • Skills may be gained through academic coursework and concurrently while pursuing academic studies.
