Quality Control Analyst - Molecular Lab- Night Shift

We are searching for a Quality Control Analyst (QC Analyst) to review results from DNA processing and high complexity molecular testing under CLIA/CAP, and other regulatory guidelines. In the role, you will review patient testing results, utilizing parameters set by validation processes, including results of external and internal controls, and guidelines established through experience of the Technical Supervisor, Supervisors and other QC Analysts. This role is performed to ensure accurate patient test results and to identify any issues that may prevent optimal patient care. This role is Tuesday through Saturday 5p.m. to 1a.m..
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in life sciences (e.g. biology, molecular biology, genetics, or chemistry), laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited university, with the required blend of medical laboratory technology and science.
- Certification in one of the following: MLS, MT, or MB(ASCP).
- Familiarity with molecular biology laboratory testing and analysis.
- Knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and other laboratory regulatory requirements.
- Experience with LIS and LIMS laboratory tracking systems.
- Experience troubleshooting issues in testing results by applying knowledge of laboratory processes, variables affecting those processes, instrument operation, knowledge of molecular biology and providing guidance to lab staff on methods to reprocess sample for reportable results.
- Knowledge and experience processing samples using automation solutions and liquid handling robots.
- Knowledge of SOP's and how to follow established procedures.
- Ability to function in a team setting and independently.
Nice To Haves
- Experience processing human samples in high throughput clinical laboratory is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Quality Control analysis of qPCR florescence amplification curves by applying established parameters and guidelines.
- Review of high-complexity molecular testing of human specimens with careful attention to detail while adhering to the quality systems protocols (SOPs) and safety requirements.
- Rerun of open arrays under certain criteria.
- Provides workflow-related technical guidance and communicates workflow insights to molecular lab.
- Monitors accuracy and performance of laboratory testing.
- Promotes a high-performance, production-minded, positive work environment.
- Participate in laboratory process improvement initiatives as required.
- Maintain and clean the laboratory and laboratory equipment as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
- Maintains all logs (freezer, refrigerator, instruments, lab temperature/humidity).
