About The Position

The Office of Family Assistance (OFA) provides operational, technical assistance and training support for safety net programs that assist low-income Ohioans. It manages public assistance programs like Ohio Works First (OWF), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), and the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). OFA also develops policies for county agencies, administers the Ohio Benefits online system, and supports employment and training initiatives to help Ohioans achieve economic stability. Learn more about the office by visiting the ODJFS OFA webpage. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps low-income individuals purchase nutritious food. This office reviews SNAP cases to ensure they are processed accurately and on time. In this role, you will evaluate the work of county caseworkers to confirm that decisions on SNAP cases comply with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • 36 months experience as a public assistance caseworker with experience in all categories of public assistance; AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in technical writing; AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in mainframe databases; AND Valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Completion of undergraduate core coursework in social &/or behavioral science; AND 12 months training or 12 months experience in public assistance regulations & policies relative to all public assistance programs; AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in technical writing; AND 3 months experience training or 3 months experience in mainframe databases; AND Valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
