About The Position

WM Strategic Business Solutions (SBS), located in Windsor, CT, is responsible for managing WMs largest, most prestigious national customers. With limited supervision, this role performs a variety of quality billing functions and related activities to support the Billing and Vendor Payables teams. Conducts various duties and responsibilities within the Quality Billing Team to develop new skills and learn new areas of the business while helping to provide the best customer experience. Interns gain practical experience, relevant to their field of study, prior to college graduation.

Requirements

Interns must have a High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (accredited) in a field of study relevant to the internship (Computer Science or Similar).
No prior work experience required.
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Can gather and analyze information skillfully.
Candidates must be able to develop alternative solutions to problems, work well in group problem solving situations, and use reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, can change approach or method to best fit the situation. Must be able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
Must be able to make understandable code with good comments and design in a way that promotes future enhancements, easy bug-fixing, and code re-use.
Beginner to intermediate skills in Python
Beginner to intermediate skills in SQL
Must understand Microsoft Excel environment.
All candidates MUST possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop process automation tools and processes using Python, SQL, VBA, API’s and other tools as needed.
Enhance and maintain existing Python programs and other tools as needed.
Work with stakeholders to uncover all requirements and develop iteratively towards a user accepted product.
Develop tools that are easy to maintain and enhance over time.
Address and find solutions to bugs and issues in Python programs, SQL queries, etc. in a timely manner.
Write documentation for new and existing process automation tools and processes.
Assists in uncovering issues, evaluates various courses of action, and promotes the best option for resolution.
Tracks issues to resolution within department and in partnership with other groups.
Monitors overall workflow to ensure timely completion of projects and daily work requirements.
Assists with special projects within assigned department or as part of cross-functional teams as required or assigned.
Works as part of a team to determine areas of risk as new or changed processes are implemented.
Able to use a standard process to develop quality software from requirements to deployment. Use tracking software to log progress during each step.
Participates in special projects as assigned or needed.
