About The Position

The Quality Auditor supports Copperweld’s manufacturing and distribution operations by ensuring products, processes, and materials meet established quality standards. This role is responsible for conducting inspections, identifying nonconformances, and supporting corrective actions to maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements. The position requires strong attention to detail, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in a Quality Assurance laboratory setting preferred
  • Knowledge of wire drawing processes preferred, including die theory and calculations
  • Ability to operate simple and complex metrology and laboratory measurement equipment
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related software
  • Strong problem identification, planning, organization, and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and sound decision-making skills
  • Team members within the Quality group who meet qualifications may be given priority consideration
  • Must wear required PPE including steel-toe safety shoes with metatarsal guards, safety glasses with side shields, and hearing protection (company provided)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and utilize laboratory equipment including OES testing, SEM, metallograph, tensile testers, and other equipment required to conduct laboratory testing
  • Conduct process audits and dock audits to evaluate product and process characteristics
  • Perform Receiving Inspections in accordance with defined requirements
  • Conduct Special Characteristic inspections as required
  • Perform data analysis to assess current-state process and product conditions
  • Prepare and provide quality reports to the Quality Manager as required
  • Conduct metallurgical failure analyses of materials and components
  • Perform 5S audits and actively participate in 5S activities to support continuous improvement
  • Calculate and report daily, weekly, and monthly Internal PPM metrics
  • Create and maintain weekly and monthly Internal Corrective Action status reports (open, closed, past due)
  • Update and maintain Quality Informational Boards and Quality Alert Boards
  • Serve as a Kaizen team champion and/or facilitator
  • Provide problem-solving support using tools such as 8D and 5 Why’s
  • Create, post, and maintain Internal Quality Alerts as needed
  • Monitor and assist with the disposition of RMAs as required
  • Maintain control of the test laboratory, ensuring equipment upkeep and compliance with 5S standards
  • Analyze, identify, and implement process improvements to reduce quality issues and improve process capability and performance
  • Perform testing and measurements using a variety of metrology and measurement equipment
  • Interact effectively with internal and external customers, peers, and cross-functional teams
  • Perform other duties within the scope of this position as assigned by the Quality Manager
