About The Position

Utz Quality Foods is growing, and we're looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join our dedicated, customer-focused team at our Hanover, PA manufacturing facility. In this essential role, you'll perform in-process and finished product quality control tests, ensuring our products meet Utz's high standards for taste, consistency, and safety. You'll also monitor production lines, document test results, and communicate any quality concerns to the appropriate management team to help maintain operational excellence. This position follows a Friday to Sunday schedule from 5:55 PM to 5:55 AM, providing a stable four-day workweek and the opportunity to be part of a company that values precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Requirements

  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Good working knowledge of basic mathematics and statistics.
  • Must be safety conscious and accurate in working in lab environment during the preparation of chemical solutions and test samples.
  • Mechanical aptitude/knowledge helpful.
  • Good organizational and communication skills required; must be able to work with all levels of associates.
  • Basic computer skills helpful for inputting and summarizing quality control data

Responsibilities

  • Routine Quality Assurance Testing; Product Sample Collection; Physical property testing; Sensory evaluation.
  • Logging test results in an Excel spread sheet, RedZone or other computer-based format.
  • Assist in sampling and documenting Environmental Monitoring Program.
  • Support Research and Development with special testing and sample collection.
  • Must be able to adhere to a specific frequency of product testing. This test schedule can vary pending specific quality issues that may arise.
  • Monitor quality specifications of finished products manufactured by outside co-packers.
  • Maintain an ongoing log of incoming raw materials identifying supplier, product identification, date received, supplier lot number, and quantity and in-house test results. Ingredient suppliers and lot numbers shall be recorded on appropriate daily Q.C. finished product inspection forms.
  • Follow safety guidelines and meet OSHA safety requirements.
  • Promote and maintain open honest communication and cooperation with all employees.
  • Responsible for basic maintenance and calibration of lab equipment.
  • Work with all plant departments to ensure a high quality, food safe product.
  • Support Food Safety systems and set example for GMP compliance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend daily QA spread sheets, data documents.
  • Requires working proactively in a cross-functional team with diverse groups of people.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
