About The Position

The Quality Assurance Technician 2 is responsible for performing in-process quality inspections of electromechanical assemblies throughout the manufacturing production cycle. This position ensures that all products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements by conducting thorough inspections of mechanical assemblies, electrical wiring, torque applications, and data integrity checks. The technician works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and must be able to identify nonconformances, document findings accurately, and communicate effectively with production and engineering personnel.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of in-process inspection experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience inspecting electromechanical assemblies, including wiring, torque, and mechanical assembly checks.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly specifications.
  • Proficiency in the use of calibrated inspection tools including torque wrenches, digital torque analyzers, calipers, multimeters, and continuity testers.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, assembly prints, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Solid understanding of electromechanical assembly techniques, workmanship standards, and quality inspection methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle dimensional, visual, and workmanship discrepancies.
  • Proficiency in completing quality inspection documentation including travelers, inspection records, NCRs, and data logs.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry in quality management or manufacturing execution systems (MES/QMS); proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly document and convey inspection findings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a production quality team.
  • Awareness of, and ability to work safely in, environments containing x-ray generating equipment with proper PPE and safety protocols.
  • Must be a United States Citizen. This requirement is due to the nature of the products manufactured and applicable regulatory or contractual obligations.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree, technical certificate, or completion of a vocational program in electronics, electromechanical technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Experience with nonconformance reporting and corrective action processes preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including data entry in quality management or manufacturing execution systems (MES/QMS); proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process inspections of electromechanical assemblies at defined production checkpoints in accordance with traveler, work order, and inspection plan requirements.
  • Verify correct assembly of mechanical components including hardware, fasteners, brackets, and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings and bills of materials (BOM).
  • Inspect electrical wiring, cable routing, connector terminations, and harness assemblies for conformance to wiring diagrams, schematics, and workmanship standards.
  • Conduct torque verification inspections using calibrated torque wrenches and torque-indicating tools; document results on inspection records and travelers.
  • Perform continuity, polarity, and point-to-point wiring checks using appropriate test equipment.
  • Verify configuration and completeness of assemblies at each stage of production prior to release to next operation.
  • Review and verify accuracy of data entries on production travelers, inspection reports, test records, and certifications.
  • Validate that serial numbers, part numbers, revision levels, and lot traceability data are accurately recorded and match physical hardware.
  • Record inspection results in quality management system (QMS) and/or paper-based inspection documentation in a clear, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Identify, tag, and document nonconforming material; initiate nonconformance reports (NCRs) and work with engineering or quality engineering for disposition.
  • Maintain calibrated tool and gauge logs; verify that inspection instruments are within current calibration due dates prior to use.
  • Communicate inspection findings, nonconformances, and quality trends to production supervisors and quality management in a timely and professional manner.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) activities as required.
  • Support first article inspections (FAI) and customer source inspections as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols including those specific to x-ray generating equipment in the work area; follow posted radiation safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized inspection area consistent with 5S standards.
  • May include other duties as assigned and/or special projects.
