Quality Assurance Team Lead The Quality Assurance (QA) Team Lead is responsible for leading Continuing Education’s software testing strategy and execution across multiple projects and platforms. This role oversees all aspects of QA and release management for DevOps, from defining testing frameworks and methodologies to code releases and deployments. This individual is responsible for providing project estimates, assigning tasks to team members, overseeing team training, and managing both full-time and student employees. The QA team lead is part of the development management team and architecture council. They act as a strategic partner with software development team leads, project managers, system architects, and others to ensure that systems meet business, technical, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 5 years of work experience in software testing/QA OR equivalent combination of education and experience, which includes:
  • Experience managing QA in Agile/DevOps web application environments, with preference for higher education systems (e.g., student portals, ERP/LMS integrations).
  • Hands-on expertise with web testing tools and frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, Selenium, JMeter, and Postman.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and cloud technologies, including Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Strong expertise in SDLC, QA metrics, DevOps automation, and API testing, with knowledge of accessibility, security, and data privacy standards.
  • Proven leadership, mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, and conflict resolution abilities with excellent communication skills.
  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving, risk assessment, and ability to clearly articulate risk–quality tradeoffs.

  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS and Azure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and participate in all testing layers and phases – functional, load, integration, regression, user acceptance (UAT), performance, accessibility, and security testing for web applications.
  • Implement and maintain automated testing infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines using test frameworks and tools (e.g., Cypress, Playwright, Selenium).
  • Manage testing for integrations with ERP (Workday), LMS (Agilix, Canvas), CRM (Microsoft D365, Salesforce), and identity management systems.
  • Ensure accessibility and usability compliance (WCAG, Section 508) across all web applications.
  • Coordinate test data management and test environment provisioning in collaboration with the development and system teams.
  • Ensure testing processes support data privacy, accessibility, and security compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate project completion timelines with appropriate manager(s) and ensure these timelines are met.
  • Lead team efforts to effectively leverage AI tools in QA and build/deployment processes.
  • Hire and manage student testing team.
  • Help direct reports set individual performance goals, establish team goals, and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Establish team processes and quality standards.
  • Mentor the quality assurance team to allow for skill/knowledge development through advice, coaching, and training.
