SUMMARY Working under general supervision of the plant QA Manager, the QA Supervisor serves as a technical resource and shift leader to hourly QA personnel. The critical technical functions of the position are to develop, implement, maintain, provide training on, and ensure effectiveness of plant food safety and QA systems. The QA Supervisor assists in the identification and implementation of quality improvements, plant sanitary design, compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical support to the plant in the areas of food safety and QA. Supervise, coach, train and develop hourly QA personnel. Lead or participate in the plant continuous improvement efforts related to food safety and quality. Develop, implement, maintain, and provide training on plant food safety and QA programs. Investigate external and internal complaints. Develop work schedules for hourly QA personnel. Conduct internal and supplier quality/food safety audits. Lead and complete CAPAs and RCAs. Develop and train on GLPs and calibration programs to ensure accurate lab results. Assure Hold/Disposition functions are conducted in accordance with the established procedures. Manage supplier non-conformances. Manage 3rd party testing and releasing. Review food safety and QA/C records for accuracy and completion. Perform PCQI and HACCP reviews. Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of this role. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE) Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution or equivalent relevant experience required; Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering, or related focus preferred. At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience in food / beverage manufacturing (FDA or USDA), bakery experience is highly preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to climb stairs or ladders, crouch, stoop, and twist. Ability to make common sensory evaluations through sight, smell, taste, and feel. Ability to stand for 8-hours. Ability to sit and use a computer for 8-hours. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE) Proficient with SAP, MS Teams, SharePoint, SAP, SPC, and other quality management systems. Proficient with Quality Management Programs (GFSI, FSMA, Allergens, GMPs, HACCP, etc.). PCQI-certified for Human Foods. Proficient verbal and technical writing skills; demonstrated ability to write effective QA procedures and technical reports. Proficient project management skills. Working knowledge of FMEA methods and principles. Proficient with RCA and risk assessment processes. Proficient trainer. Proficient working in team based and fast paced environment. Proficient relationship building skills, including the capacity to predict and manage behavior, build, and leverage cross-functional partnerships within and outside of the organization.
