Quality Assurance/Standards Specialist - Caswell Developmental Center
About The Position
The primary purpose of this position is to review and track safety events involving residents in the facility. The Risk Specialist reviews and tracks Event Reports and Intensive Reviews, ensuring appropriate follow-up, review, and closure of safety events in the patient safety data system (RL6) and the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The Risk Specialist prepares reports for the Event Review Committee and makes recommendations to the Director of Quality Improvement regarding the need for Root Cause Analyses. This role also coordinates and operates the video camera surveillance program and supports consistent implementation of policies by providing interpretation, feedback, and staff guidance. Additionally, the Risk Specialist conducts record and EHR audits, completes other audits assigned by the Director of QI, and consults with management regarding active treatment across the facility.
Requirements
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, education, health, business administration or related human service field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in professional level treatment programming for the applicable client population; or
- Bachelor's degree in one of the fields listed above from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience as indicated above; or
- an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Provides training on safety events and the operation of the Safety Database/RL6, offering professional consultation to staff.
- Operates video surveillance systems, accurately interprets findings, and maintains strict confidentiality.
- Exercises sound judgment and discretion when interpreting and applying quality standards, policies, and procedures.
- Communicates effectively with professional and administrative personnel to assess problems and coordinate resolutions.
