About The Position

As a Quality Assurance/Food Safety Intern, you will gain knowledge and understanding of the business through hands-on activities, coaching, and projects. This internship is full-time for approximately 12 weeks from May to August, with the possibility of extension through your expected graduation date. You will have various learning opportunities, including monitoring employees and plant procedures according to the SQF code and the Active Food Security and Defense surveillance inside the facility and its operations. You will help prepare presentations on findings and recommendations, monitor intervention validation studies, sanitary operations, and animal welfare, and maintain daily records of the integrity of finished products leaving the facility. This includes ground beef sampling, leaker checks, HACCP temperature checks, metal detector/x-ray checks, finished product weight checks, tare checks, and specification checks. You will check to ensure all critical control points are functioning as they should and assist QA personnel and production with 3rd party audit preparations. Additionally, you will learn, understand, and work to maintain the plant's humane handling, safety, and quality assurance expectations, recommend ways to improve the quality assurance program, participate in data collection and analysis related to product quality and food safety metrics, and assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance protocols and food safety standards. You will also help maintain quality documentation and records.

Requirements

  • Must have completed your Sophomore year at a credited College or University.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Desire and ability to work well both independently and cross-functionally.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Inquisitive individual with a desire to gain knowledge through experience.
  • Ability to perform all duties required in both office and manufacturing environments wearing proper PPE.
  • Reliable transportation to and from working location.

Responsibilities
