About The Position

Investigate field failures of castings and fabricated products using metallurgical analysis to determine root causes and find improvement opportunities. Some travel to location of failure may be required. Passport and ability to travel abroad are required Analyze Dallas Foundry and Attachments in-house product rejections for root cause and improvement opportunities. Coordinate laboratory activities involved with the gathering of data related to failure analysis. Use laboratory equipment in sample preparation. Responsible for creating detailed failure analysis reports including findings, corrective action recommendations, and preventive measures. Collaborate with Foundry Engineering, Attachments, Design, Manufacturing and Outsourcing groups to make improvements based on analysis findings. Coordinate and lead Quality Issue meetings for cross functional investigations and implementation of countermeasures. Evaluate historical warranty and field issue information to target product lines that require improvement. Assist in warranty handling, maintaining field issue and warranty claim metrics and preparation of reports and executive level communications regarding field issue, warranty and internal quality performance Assist in creating field repair instructions for castings and Attachments products. Represent Quality in product development teams/projects. Work with cross functional teams to develop & execute plans (quality plan, risk management plan) and requirements (safety, functionality, regulatory, usability) to ensure provisions for quality are addressed and resolved prior to product release. Evaluation, reporting and approval for First Article Samples. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or a related area is required.
  • Materials Science degree is preferred.
  • Foundry or metallurgy experience OR foundry specific training in education a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with melting, alloying, Foundry Engineering and casting operations
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency.
  • Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Passport and ability to travel abroad are required
