About The Position

The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) will be required to work directly in the assurance of the product of product realization and assist in the development of new projects and current production to satisfy both Government/Commercial’s quality standards in the manufacture of apparel. QAE will develop/update Quality Work Instructions based on customer specifications as needed. The QAE will continue to develop new strategies in the Quality area to enhance the skills of the Quality Auditors. QAE will interact with all levels of management as needed. This position may occasionally be tasked with supporting supplier development activities. The QAE will assist in the day-to-day quality activities in the Manufacturing areas as deemed necessary.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or a minimum of 5 years of experience directly related to the specified duties and responsibilities.
  • Business Administration, degree or related discipline or a combination of education and experience.
  • Strong understanding of Quality practices applicable to the manufacture of Apparel products.
  • Experience with Government and industrial specifications.
  • Understanding of basic compliance and regulatory issues.
  • Speaks and writes English (Spanish and Creole a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess oral communication skills at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • The QAE will work closely with engineering and manufacturing on new projects to ensure the quality and processes are applied into the production of new products when applicable.
  • Document Verification/validation of new product.
  • QAE analyze and develop a plan to bring quality at the source.
  • Lead the Quality Training Certification
  • Train and coordinate quality trainer auditors
  • Updates/prepares work instructions and procedures in the quality area.
  • Promotes Continuous Improvement in the Manufacturing area.
  • QAE must have textile knowledge, trim components.
  • Assist with the Government/commercial presentation of the First Article, Article Inspection, review, and approval in-house or at the Sub-contractor’s location if needed.
  • Focus on problem prevention, quality assurance, continuous improvement, data collection and reporting, along with Corrective and Preventative Action related to any quality issues.
  • Investigates problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies (using statistical quality control, data analysis, problem solving techniques, and lean manufacturing concepts).
  • QAE must understand Government, Commercial specifications, Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
