About The Position

The Quality Assurance Engineer at Kyocera International, Inc. is responsible for supporting the Quality Manager in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). This role involves performing customer representative duties, participating in regulatory and customer audits, and ensuring compliance with customer specifications and contract requirements. The engineer will work closely with various teams to analyze root causes of issues, prepare reports, and improve product quality using various quality techniques.

Requirements

  • Four-year technical degree (Bachelor's in Engineering or related field) and 2+ years of manufacturing experience, or 6+ years of manufacturing experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of company processes and technical knowledge in a related industry.
  • Good working knowledge of quality systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to understand mechanical drawings and customer specifications.
  • Ability to influence resources without direct management responsibility.
  • Proficient with statistical software for data analysis and visualization.
  • Eligible to work in an ITAR Environment.
  • Experience working directly with customers on audits and quality issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Comprehensive GD&T understanding is highly desirable.
  • SPC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer specifications and contract requirements to confirm compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with sales engineers or customers regarding product specifications.
  • Analyze root causes of issues using quality tools and manage recurrence of issues.
  • Prepare 8D reports for major in-process issues and customer claims.
  • Support company goals without compromising quality by understanding output and CSI targets.
  • Improve product quality using techniques such as Control Plan, PFMEA, and SPC.
  • Work in clean room environments to address production issues.
  • Participate in training and meetings to understand quality and business challenges.
  • Collaborate with customers and other Kyocera sites to adhere to quality requirements.
  • Assist Process Engineers with statistical process control on the manufacturing floor.
  • Create and maintain quality reports.
  • Assist with internal and supplier audits.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide inspection support for products.
  • Conduct periodic First Article Inspections (FAIs) on new or revised products.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with compliance to ISO standards and other regulations.
  • Maintain training status and contribute to training methods and materials.
  • Assist in developing and revising Work Instructions.
  • Utilize SAP software to implement QMS into SAP format.
