About The Position

The Quality Assurance Auditor position at Mercer Foods is essential for ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of the company's products. This role involves various responsibilities including verification of food safety, product attributes, labeling compliance, and ensuring that micro and retention samples are collected according to product specifications. The auditor will also be responsible for properly following the product hold and release program, maintaining lab supply inventory, and assisting in driving lab safety and efficiency. Additionally, the auditor will investigate customer complaints related to quality and food safety, maintain various QA databases, document and implement inspection criteria and procedures, and serve as a PCQI to review HACCP, cleaning/sanitation, and pest control records. Training new hires on GMP and food safety subjects, participating in internal and external audits, and assisting in the implementation and maintenance of various quality systems are also key responsibilities of this position.

Requirements

• Two years' experience in field, laboratory, or production facility quality control.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Ensure food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of products.
• Verify food safety, product attributes, and labeling compliance.
• Collect micro and retention samples according to product specifications.
• Follow the product hold and release program.
• Maintain lab supply inventory and ordering.
• Drive lab safety and efficiency.
• Investigate customer complaints relating to quality and food safety.
• Maintain various QA databases such as the Hold database, EMP database, and micro test database.
• Document and implement inspection criteria and procedures.
• Review HACCP, cleaning/sanitation, and pest control records.
• Train new hires on GMP and food safety related subjects.
• Participate in internal audits and keep track of trends.
• Assist in second- and third-party audits.
• Serve as a backup for receiving technicians and micro lab technicians.
