About The Position

This position oversees and supports activities that ensure compliance with company manuals, operational procedures, and Local, State, and Federal regulations. Conduct field and non-field audits, safety assessments, and inspections to verify adherence to quality and safety standards. Coach internal employees, construction inspectors, operations personnel, and contractors regarding proper methods, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Support Records and Operations departments to ensure corporate strategic goals are achieved within acceptable risk tolerances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience, or; Master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant natural gas experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, SharePoint, Power BI and PowerPoint.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • QA/QC and/or technical training experience related to utility operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully implement a QA/QC program in a utility environment.
  • Understanding the Safety, QA/QC and training requirements and regulations for a gas distribution utility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field audits, inspections, and jobsite observations to verify compliance with SJI manuals, regulatory directives, and quality standards.
  • Conduct post‑audit reviews of completed field work and document findings.
  • Complete safety assessments and identify operational safety or quality concerns, recommending improvements to strengthen internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Review service record cards.
  • Interpret Operator Qualifications (OQ).
  • Provide technical expertise in the implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s QA/QC program.
  • Assist in creating and refining QA/QC methods, procedures, and reporting practices.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies, including regulatory bodies, as required.
  • Support compliance and quality teams to ensure timely execution of federal and state regulations.
  • Work closely with supervisory and senior personnel to evaluate new methods, troubleshoot issues, and recommend process improvements.
  • Coordinate QA/QC activities across ETG and other operational groups to promote consistency and effectiveness.
  • Evaluate training practices.
  • Available for on‑call and emergency response duties.
  • Conduct event investigations and perform root cause analyses, including those related to safety events.
  • Conduct technical studies and participate in task forces aimed at improving long-term efficiency.
  • Make recommendations to support development of long-range operational plans.
  • Assist in developing departmental budgets.
  • Perform duties common to supervisory, professional, and administrative roles, and complete additional assignments as needed.
  • Participate in group meetings, presenting findings and interpreting data when required.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners while exercising sound judgment.
  • Travel frequently to operating divisions and job sites (approximately 95% field‑based work).
  • Home office is in Union, NJ, but you must be comfortable with traveling for fieldwork.
