The Quality Specialist will assist with the achievement of quality outcomes in the Medical Group. The Quality Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Quality Manager to assist physicians with identifying and addressing patient care gaps. This Quality Specialist collects relevant data points to share among insurers, medical homes, and accountable care organizations.

  • Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system.

  • Assist with the collection of relevant data points to share among insurers, medical homes, and accountable care organizations.
  • Extracts data from medical records, EMR, or other electronic tools using appropriate regulatory guidelines.
  • Inputs data into computer programs to facilitate the transmission to needed sources.
  • Works with various EMR data to help create best practices and procedures.
  • Supports the management team and other internal customers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data.
  • Provides accurate and timely information for public reporting to internal customers, as well as other external agencies.
  • Maintains or exceeds productivity and quality according to established standards.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of core measure guidelines and regulations affecting extraction.
  • Continuous Quality Improvement of data collection methods and analysis for efficiency and process streamlining purposes.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, staff training programs, and supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility for aiding the development of positive team relationships as requested.
  • Adheres to AHF policy, procedures, and the professional code of ethics.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Graduate of approved Medical Assisting Program and current certification.
  • 1 year experience in healthcare data extraction and/or management.
  • Excellent knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, and healthcare diagnoses and procedures.
  • Must be detail-oriented and organized with good analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to function independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills include word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and relational databases.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve, pay attention to detail, multi-task effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to establish rapport.
  • Ability to motivate others towards achieving goals.
  • Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus, be task-oriented, nonjudgmental, and have a clear sense of boundaries.
  • A strong sense of respect for confidentiality, involving both clients and fellow employees.
  • Previous electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred.
