Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Quality Architect to drive the quality strategy for their Session Smart Router (SSR) networking platform. This role involves designing scalable validation strategies, expanding automation capabilities, and ensuring testing reflects real-world customer deployments. It is critical for ensuring SSR delivers reliable performance at scale in customer networks. The Quality Architect collaborates with development architects, product management, and testing teams to integrate quality from design through release, playing a key part in validating system performance, scalability, and interoperability across diverse network environments. This position guides the evolution of testing infrastructure and methodologies for performance, longevity, solutions, and large-scale network deployments.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in networking software development, testing, or system validation and with the below technologies unless otherwise noted.
  • Experience owning or leading test strategy for a product or major feature area, including defining coverage, methodologies, and release criteria
  • Experience designing and executing performance, scale, or longevity testing for large or distributed systems, including identifying bottlenecks and validating system behavior under load
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, WAN architectures), demonstrated through hands-on development, testing, or troubleshooting of networked systems
  • 4+ years of Hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation frameworks or scripts using Python, Tcl/Expect, or similar
  • Familiarity with traffic generation tools and system-level validation approaches (e.g., Spirent, Ixia, or similar)
  • Experience working with distributed systems across virtualized and/or physical environments, including multi-node or large-scale deployments
  • Experience using CI/CD systems and test automation tools (Jenkins, GIT, or similar) to build, execute, and maintain automated test pipelines
  • Ability to collaborate across development, test, and product teams
  • Experience mentoring engineers or providing technical leadership

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the overall quality architecture and validation strategy for the SSR networking platform.
  • Ensure testing approaches reflect real-world customer deployments, traffic patterns, and scale scenarios.
  • Identify gaps in test coverage and guide teams in developing improved validation methodologies.
  • Architect and improve automated testing frameworks and test harnesses.
  • Expand automated testing coverage across performance, scale, longevity, and interoperability testing.
  • Design automation approaches that simulate long-running environments and production workloads.
  • Lead initiatives to validate system scalability, throughput, and reliability across hardware and virtualized environments.
  • Define methodologies for performance benchmarking and longevity testing.
  • Evaluate product behavior under realistic traffic loads and deployment scenarios.
  • Drive validation readiness and quality criteria for major releases.
  • Serve as the technical quality leader for major feature initiatives.
  • Collaborate with development architects and engineering teams to ensure quality and testability are considered during system design.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to test engineers and automation developers.
  • Influence technical direction without direct authority across multiple teams.
  • Define testing strategies to ensure protocol interoperability and integration with external networking platforms.
  • Coordinate testing with third-party tools, traffic generators, and industry test platforms.
  • Analyze defect trends, performance data, and test results to identify systemic quality improvements.
  • Drive improvements to testing infrastructure, automation efficiency, and validation processes.
