About The Position

Under the direction of the Quality and Compliance Manager, the Quality and Compliance Specialist will provide support to the Quality & Compliance department, with the implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the Rocky Mountain Healthcare Services (RMHCS) quality and compliance programs. The Q&C Specialist will assist in collecting, validating, analyzing, and monitoring quality and compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements and adherence to RMHCS policies and procedures. Further, this person is responsible for monitoring quality and compliance work plans, will serve as a facilitator for process improvement, conduct corrective action plan monitoring, create presentations, and will also provide staff training as needed. This position works in collaboration with all RMHCS departments and outside regulatory agencies to ensure seamless execution. MISSION: Improving lives, Optimizing wellness, Promoting independence

Requirements

  • Associate degree in healthcare or closely related field at a minimum with a bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with a focus on quality/compliance reporting, auditing, and policy development.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with participants, co-workers, vendors, medical staff, and the public.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and privacy principles.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations around complex topics across all levels of the organization.
  • Ensures discretion with confidential information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Embraces organizational excellence through practicing individual time management, efficiency, effectiveness, and participating in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Proactively brings ideas, problems/concerns forward and participates in the development of resolutions.
  • Maintains skills and is aware of industry standards and best practices.
  • Able to document information clearly and thoroughly as well as having the necessary organizational skills needed to keep meticulous records.
  • Able to identify, investigate, and report quality and compliance concerns such as irregularities and violations to the appropriate member(s) of the leadership team.
  • Experienced with preparing and filing compliance reports.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a culture of quality, safety and compliance within the organization
  • Having a professional and cooperative working relationship with leadership and RMHCS Quality and Compliance Department
  • Assists all departments with regulatory compliance by researching information and providing resources.
  • Responsible for policy writing, reviewing, assigning, and making policy revisions as needed.
  • Responsible for keeping RMHCS policies and procedures updated as regulatory changes are made.
  • Responsible for management of the organization’s policy, procedure, and investigation platform
  • Facilitates Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), privacy, and other compliance meetings as required.
  • Provides support to the Quality & Compliance department with conducting privacy and security investigations.
  • Coordinates compliance and risk management activities
  • Conducts audits, develops corrective action plans (CAPs), monitors CAP progress, and collaborates with all departments to ensure goals/expectations are met.
  • Enhances the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the Quality & Compliance department by contributing to, and participating in, departmental performance improvement goals.
  • Monitors, documents, and responds to the organization’s Compliance Helpline and routes concerns to the appropriate leadership.
  • Processes appeals by completing basic administrative tasks as required by federal and state regulations as assigned.
  • Assists in development and management of databases, reporting systems, and data warehouses.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of required reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Collects, cleans, and validates healthcare data from internal and external sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Monitors and reviews policies and SOP’s in Navex
  • Gathers data needed to assist in the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual Quality & Compliance reports and updates for the Board of Directors.
  • Advises and updates leadership on compliance matters.
  • Other duties as requested/assigned.
