About The Position

Are you ready to help shape the Quality Management practices within an established and growing organization? Do you have a background in electrical and mechanical inspections? Have you conducted or participated in ISO 9001-style internal audits? Then you just could be the Quality professional we're looking for! The person selected for this role will verify compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D Quality Management Systems and Corporate Quality requirements. They will be responsible for performing internal business process monitoring though audit and inspection, and may lead focused improvement projects in a variety of functional areas that lead to growth. The successful person will need to be able to draw conclusions and provide recommendations to solve problems relating to process effectiveness, work methods, procedures, efficiency, and documentation control. The successful candidate will ensure data captured from multiple sources are aggregated into compelling metrics that support excellence. This position is in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and at least 8 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 & AS9100D
  • Experience in recognizing opportunities for process improvement and making recommendations.
  • Leading or participating in process improvement efforts.
  • Willingness and ability to influence and motivate team members and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to convey information across the spectrum of internal employees as well as to customers.
  • Skilled at control and maintenance of a wide variety of records both in hard-copy and electronic.
  • Flexibility to perform other duties as assigned sparking creative methods and solutions
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe PDF.
  • Experience with internal and external audits
  • Experience with documentation management and control

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business or management or a technical discipline
  • ISO 9001:2015 Lead or Internal Auditor training or certification
  • American Society for Quality certifications (Auditor, Quality Engineer, etc.)
  • IPC Soldering training or certification
  • ANSI Level II Electrical or Mechanical Inspector Certification(s)
  • Familiarity with ANSI/ASME Y14 (series) Standards
  • Familiarity with military standards documents, such as MIL-STD-3007
  • Lean Six Sigma training (green belt) or other process improvement training
  • Knowledge of project management, process design and documentation skills
  • Naval Aviation maintenance experience and knowledge of the CNAFINST 4790.2(series), NAVAIR-01-1A-505, or Aerospace Standard AS50881.
  • Prior experience working with Department of Defense or United States Military

Responsibilities

  • Communicate the Land & C5ISR Solutions (L&CS) Quality Vision “creating transferable knowledge that leads to growth” through your daily interactions with L&CS personnel.
  • Conduct inspections of electrical cables and wire harnesses to confirm compliance to design drawings, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Standards.
  • Conduct inspections of metal work to confirm compliance to design drawings and ANSI/MIL-SPEC requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits based on the L&CS and I&S Sector audit schedule to confirm compliance with ISO 9001:2015 or AS 9100 requirements.
  • Make recommendations to, and implement the approved audit schedule for L&CS and business sector processes.
  • Manage and prioritize workload with minimal supervision.
  • Evaluate workflows of existing and new business processes to identify learning opportunities.
  • Prepare and brief status reports and recommendations on programs, projects and operational performance using data analysis, charts and graphs to make the case for improvement.
  • Act as Quality Assurance Team Lead when the Quality Manager is otherwise engaged.
  • Other duties as assigned.
