About The Position

The Qualified Professional I (QPI) serves as a primary advocate for each assigned consumer, ensuring that monitoring functions are completed appropriately. This role involves conducting investigations related to abuse and neglect, overseeing the guardianship process for clients over 18, and representing LIFE, Inc. in local advocacy groups. The QPI participates in various committee meetings, chairs the Interdisciplinary Team, and maintains contact with external agencies. Responsibilities also include completing Habilitation Plans, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing payroll functions, and supervising habilitation staff. The position requires monitoring consumer data, conducting home inspections, and managing budgetary costs associated with program activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a human services field such as Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or Human Services.
  • General knowledge of IID population and understanding of ICF/IID regulations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Excellent supervisory and human relations abilities.
  • Ability to organize and multi-task.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary advocate for each assigned consumer and ensure monitoring functions are completed appropriately.
  • Assist in conducting investigations involving abuse/neglect.
  • Ensure the guardianship process is completed for all clients over the age of 18 as warranted.
  • Represent LIFE, Inc. as a member of local ARC and other advocacy groups as requested.
  • Participate in Utilization Review, Human Rights Committee, Accident/Incident Committee Meetings, and Psychotropic Drug/Pharmacy Meetings.
  • Serve as chairperson of the Interdisciplinary Team.
  • Maintain contact with school systems, workshops/day programs, and other outside agencies.
  • Complete Habilitation Plan and NC Snap Assessment for assigned consumers in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that consumers receive the needed services and interventions from appropriate program staff necessary for active treatment.
  • Schedule, conduct, and document interim meetings as needed to discuss revisions or additions to consumers' Habilitation Plans.
  • Enter systematic program reviews, progress notes and event log entries utilizing a personal planning system.
  • Assure compliance with ICF/IID regulations, licensure regulations, and LIFE, Inc. policies.
  • Complete necessary payroll functions in reference to Habilitation staff at the end of each pay period.
  • Interview, reference, and make hiring decisions for Habilitation Associate positions.
  • Participate in the administrative on-call schedule for the group home facility.
  • Issue disciplinary action to habilitation staff in conjunction with QP II and Director of ICF/IID Services.
  • Oversee scheduling of habilitation staff to maintain appropriate staff-consumer ratios.
  • Ensure all staff receive necessary orientation and training as outlined by policy.
  • Supervise all habilitation staff providing services to assigned consumers.
  • Monitor all data for assigned consumers weekly to ensure accuracy.
  • Ensure completion of monthly Home Inspection Reports and maintain LIFE, Inc. property and equipment.
  • Monitor budgetary costs and expenditures associated with program activity.
  • Resolve issues with Habilitation Coordinators and Habilitation Associates.
  • Coordinate needed services with consultants.
