About The Position

The position involves performing watch standing duties on a vessel, including the operation, testing, inspection, maintenance, and calibration of electrical systems and machinery. The role requires responding to emergency situations and assisting with various engineering and deck operations, ensuring safety and compliance with maritime regulations.

Requirements

• Must hold USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with international and national endorsements.
• International STCW Endorsements: STCW Basic Safety Training (STCW VI/1), PSC (STCW VI/2), Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties (VPDSD) (STCW VI/6).
• Preferred International Endorsements: Able Seafarer-Engine (STCW III/5), RFPEW (STCW III/4).
• National Endorsements: QMED (minimum endorsement - Oiler), Wiper/Ordinary Seaman, Steward's Department (F.H.).
• Preferred National Endorsement: Tankerman Assistant limited to Dangerous Liquid (DL) Cargoes PIC and Lifeboatman.
• Must hold a valid TWIC card and U.S. Passport.
• High School diploma required.
• ABS Nautical Systems NS5 experience preferred.
• Must have current USCG STCW Medical Certificate, renewed every 2 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform watch standing duties including operation, testing, inspection, maintenance, and calibration of electrical systems and deck machinery.
• Conduct security rounds and maintain engineering space sanitation.
• Assist with cooking and line handling operations as necessary.
• Transfer fuel and assist the QMED Engine Watch Officer.
• Engage in engineering duties including work/training/drills/exercises in enclosed spaces and at heights.
• Respond to emergency situations such as fire, flood, man overboard, and abandon ship.
• Assist with hook up/disconnect cargo and fuel functions, ballast maintenance, and machinery inspection.
• Report and record maintenance-related activities as requested.
