About The Position

PURPOSE STATEMENT: Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing or Nurse Manager, the Qualified Medication Assistant performs various client care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the needs of clients including administration of medication as allowed.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current QMA licensure required.
• CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Previous QMA experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, administers and documents medications following accepted practices as directed.
• Monitors client’s vital signs as indicated; observes clients for expected actions; observes reportable, suspected, and adverse reactions to medications administered.
• Prepares verbal and written reports related to successful or unsuccessful medication administration changes in client condition.
• Reports all unusual or unexpected client conditions and reactions to supervisor.
• Responds to emergency call alerts in accordance with facility policies.
• Assists clients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed linens, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc.
• Assists with dietary, housekeeping, laundry and activity departmental activities as assigned.
• Assists with ongoing treatment plans as directed.
• Receives report and assignment when coming on duty and gives report on assigned clients when going off duty.
• Works with training CNA/QMA during On-Duty Orientation.
• Accepts changes in duty and assignment.
