About The Position

RIZZO International, Inc. is seeking a motivated QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental) Engineering Intern to join their corporate office team for the summer, located in Pittsburgh, PA. This intern will aid Quality Assurance and Health & Safety tasks as directed by supervisors to ensure activities are performed meeting both external standards and regulations and internal policies and procedures. They will also be responsible for completing assigned project tasks generally involving field and office analytical responsibilities under the direction of management and project leadership. The Engineering Intern is responsible for performing activities in accordance with the QHSE Manual and other procedures applicable to the project.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a B.S. or B.A. program in engineering or related field
  • Knowledge of technical discipline
  • Computer skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be available to work in office 32-40 hours per week for a minimum 10-week commitment from June to August

Responsibilities

  • Aid Quality Assurance and Health & Safety tasks as directed by supervisors
  • Ensure activities are performed meeting both external standards and regulations and internal policies and procedures
  • Complete assigned project tasks generally involving field and office analytical responsibilities under the direction of management and project leadership
  • Review and assist with quality assurance policies and procedures
  • Interpret and comply with quality assurance standards
  • Process and work with quality records
  • Assist with corrective and preventive actions
  • Inspect data to detect areas for improvement
  • Gather and organize statistical quality data
  • Report on results of quality activities, including seismic and structural engineering activities
  • Assist senior staff with analytics, design review, field work, and development of technical reports
  • Support external providers conducting on-site audits
  • Assist with the training and qualification program
  • Work with suppliers for quality approval
  • Assist in Performance Analysis
  • Assist in QC support of deliverables
  • Assist in Work Plan preparation
  • Support overall company health and safety program
  • Assess Safety Equipment
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Perform activities in accordance with the QHSE Manual and other procedures applicable to the project
