Midsouth Paving, Inc., part of CRH's South Division, is a leading supplier of quality asphalt and construction services in the Southeastern U.S., with operations in Alabama. The Quality Control Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of asphalt road construction projects. This position involves providing inspection and field testing services, including profilographing, density gauge reading, asphalt core sampling, and establishing roller patterns. The technician will work closely with road crews, DOT personnel, and engineering firms to maintain high standards of quality and compliance with safety regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for taking nuclear or PQI gauge readings, using a profilograph to collect data for roadway smoothness specifications, and operating a core drilling machine to collect field density core samples. They will evaluate test data results and make necessary adjustments to keep processes within specification limits. Additionally, the technician will maintain accurate records of test results, manage testing equipment, and transport equipment safely to and from job sites. The role requires participation in weekly QC calls and meetings, as well as obtaining and maintaining required certifications and licenses. This position may require travel to various Midsouth sites and asphalt plants, with occasional overnight stays. The technician will also assist road crews with various tasks, including moving barrels, shoveling mix, and flagging traffic.
