Kenvue is currently recruiting for a QC Technical Lead, Microbiology. The QC Technical Lead is responsible for supporting product and technology transfers (TT), new product introductions (NPI), laboratory improvement projects and base business needs within the QC Microbiology Laboratory. You will work with a team of professionals towards the established goals and expectations of Kenvue. You will support the team by identifying and leading cross-functional Compliance & Quality Improvement Initiatives within the laboratory. You will also be a Microbiology Lead Scientist Representative of cross-functional teams supporting the deployment of upcoming projects including Product and Technology Transfer, management system processes and driving the development and implementation of over-the-counter (OTC) self-care products. Positions at this level are seasoned scientists and professionals who are key analysts and team members of critical initiatives. This position often provides instructions or supervision to lower-level scientists and professionals, and/or manages routine processes and sets of tasks. Positions at this level provide routine testing support and contribute to delivering critical work within larger projects or initiatives, providing technical data and support where needed.

  • Work closely with the Microbiology Supervisor and Manager in identifying, analyzing and suggesting actions to optimize laboratory operation, technology and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide expert representation of the QC Microbiology Laboratory on product and method transfer teams.
  • Represent and be accountable for technology transfer and new product introduction project deliverables such as method validation, method transfer, stability testing and release.
  • Assist and/or advise in management of timelines between projects and the commercial and stability testing schedules.
  • Work within a cross-functional team to support qualification, commission, and decommission of instruments and equipment in the Microbiology Laboratory.
  • Develop and validate microbiological test methods for QC testing in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Create and/or review validation protocols for laboratory equipment and processes.
  • Create standard operating procedures, work instructions and reports for microbiological processes.
  • Lead investigations into out-of-specification results and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in microbiology to drive continuous improvement.
  • Be a strong technical leader and mentor other scientists within the Laboratory by maintaining open communication and sharing knowledge.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new testing techniques in alignment with company's strategic direction.
  • Collaborate with Quality leaders to identify and address issues in lab testing efforts.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance development efficiency and performance.
  • Support and participate in projects that are critical to the business (e.g. Technical transfer, NPI, continues improvement initiatives).
  • Provide project leadership within the Quality lab to drive regional and new product strategies.
  • Report deviations, near misses, and safety issues in a timely manner.
  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of cGMP regulations and industry standards.
  • Minimum 6-8 years of proven working experience in laboratory testing.
  • University/Bachelors Degree or Equivalent in a related field.
  • Experience with implementing new testing techniques consistent with industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to participate in cross-functional teams and collaborate with internal/external partners to enhance relationships and interactions, including interfacing with management to inform, drive change, and provide direct feedback.
  • In-depth subject matter expertise and applied experience with microbiological techniques used in a broad range of microbiological testing, method development, method validation, and method transfer.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to influence without line authority.
  • Expertise in pharmacopeia and regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience with equipment qualifications and accuracy of results.
  • Mentoring capabilities in various technical areas.
  • Results-oriented with strong track record of successfully delivering objectives.
  • Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges: $110,500.00 - $156,000.00.
