Mission Pharmacal is seeking a QC Scientist I - Raw Materials to join our team at our manufacturing facility in Boerne, TX. The role involves analyzing samples and performing chemical and physical tests on API's and excipients using various compendia or in-house methods. The QC Scientist will perform calculations, data analysis, and provide appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of raw materials, including method verification testing. The position requires continued training on analytical methods to achieve proficiency in testing all raw materials for the release of commercial production. The scientist will assist in the basic operations of the laboratory in support of essential analytical testing and will be responsible for basic troubleshooting on instruments and methods to meet sample testing requirements. A positive attitude and professional demeanor are essential, as the role requires collaboration with management, QC Laboratory Scientists, and Technicians to achieve assigned goals.

  • Analyzes samples and performs chemical and physical tests on API's and excipients using various compendia or in-house methods.
  • Performs calculations, data analysis, and provides appropriate and compliant documentation for review and release of raw materials to include method verification testing.
  • Continue training on analytical methods to achieve proficiency in testing all raw materials for release of commercial production.
  • Assists in the basic operations of the laboratory in support of the essential analytical testing.
  • Basic trouble shooting on instruments and methods to meet sample testing requirements.
  • Must be a team player who works well with management, QC Laboratory Scientists, and Technicians to achieve assigned goals.
  • Able to present a positive attitude and a professional demeanor.
  • Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college or university in a scientific field.
  • Minimum of one year experience in QC Laboratory testing.
  • Possess analytical laboratory skills in a professional capacity, including all relevant analytical techniques such as wet chemistry, chromatography and spectrophotometry (UPLC, HPLC, GC, IC, TOC, UV-Vis, FT-IR).
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrument software (Empower and Chromeleon, etc.).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical instructions including methods of analysis documents, SOPs, Certificate of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Able to provide documentation, data and results in the appropriate format as trained.
  • Ability to proficiently communicate with management on the tasks undertaken and completed.
  • Able to operate a Windows based computer and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Able to input data into Excel spreadsheets and/or create (validatable) spreadsheets for data analysis.
  • Organized and able to consistently meet deadlines.
