About The Position

We are seeking an experienced SMT QC Inspector to perform in-process and final inspections of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies. This role is responsible for ensuring product quality by identifying defects and performing precision soldering repairs in accordance with IPC standards and customer specifications. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 2–3 years of experience in SMT inspection and rework
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Must be willing to complete required training

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Experience using microscopes and electronic inspection tools
  • IPC-A-610 knowledge or certification preferred
  • Opportunity to cross-train in other departments

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual inspections of SMT PCB assemblies for solder joint integrity, component placement, polarity, and alignment
  • Identify and document defects such as tombstoning, solder bridging, insufficient solder, and misaligned components
  • Perform SMT rework and touch-up soldering using microscopes and precision hand tools
  • Verify repairs meet IPC-A-610 Class II or Class III standards depending on customer requirements
  • Maintain accurate inspection and repair documentation for traceability and compliance
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to address recurring quality issues
  • Follow manufacturing travelers to ensure assemblies move correctly through the production process
  • Properly use materials and instructions provided by process engineering
  • Monitor equipment operation and report any malfunctions immediately to leadership
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks and document activities according to company procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Perform duties in accordance with established quality and safety standards
