About The Position

The Quality Control (QC) Manager at Texas Materials is responsible for overseeing the quality control department, ensuring the highest product quality and customer service. This role involves providing technical expertise, leading a team, and maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations while fostering a culture of safety, integrity, and quality within the organization.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality control preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience managing a staff of 2 or more employees.
  • A Geology or technical degree may substitute for years of experience on a year-by-year basis.
  • Ability to obtain TxDOT Level 1A HMA Plant Production Specialist, Level 1B HMA Roadway Specialist, & Level 2 Mix Design Specialist certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to develop and sustain a team that supports core values of Safety, Integrity & Quality.
  • Lead the QC team in safe production activities aiming for ZERO incidents.
  • Maintain QC/QA processes to meet and exceed state and federal requirements.
  • Oversee all quality control activities for aggregate materials to meet specifications.
  • Create awareness of KPIs and cost control among personnel.
  • Maintain strong communication with all lines of business to support product quality and customer service.
  • Manage customer and sales team demands for material samples and testing.
  • Troubleshoot customer issues by analyzing specific conditions for optimal solutions.
  • Manage employee performance through Frontline Leadership Training, including coaching and feedback.
  • Maintain current QC/QA certifications and oversee lab equipment and reference materials.
  • Participate in industry associations and maintain relationships with agencies.
  • Manage financial aspects of the quality control business unit and prepare reports.
  • Review tests and procedures to ensure compliance with established policies.
  • Oversee specialty products and conduct laboratory tours.
