About The Position

The QC Lead tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process. This role involves compiling and evaluating statistical data to ensure and maintain the quality and reliability of products. The QC Lead must be competent in inspecting at least one assigned production department. Essential duties are performed with minimal supervision and include interpreting job routing sheets, artwork, and specifications to determine quality standards, collaborating with production personnel on equipment cleanliness, selecting and testing products for various qualities (e.g., moisture, pH, organoleptic attributes), recording test data using statistical quality control procedures, evaluating data and writing reports on deviations, performing destructive and nondestructive tests, overseeing Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and reporting infractions. The position also requires cross-training in other departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Knowledge of Database software.
  • Knowledge of Spreadsheet software.
  • Knowledge of Word Processing software.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret discrete job routing sheet, artwork, and specifications and confer with management or other staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Work with production personnel to ensure cleanliness/sanitation of production equipment prior to production startup.
  • Select products for tests at specified stages in production process, and test products for variety of qualities such as moisture, pH, organoleptic attributes, etc.
  • Record test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluate data and write reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Set up and perform destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance.
  • Oversee Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and report any infractions to the appropriate Supervisor/Manager.
  • Be crossed trained in other departments.
