About The Position

Minnesota Paving and Materials, a CRH company has grown from four small, family local companies, to one, strong and leveraged leading supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready mixed concrete, and paving and construction services throughout the state of Minnesota and surrounding areas. With operations going back to 1861, we boast a remarkably long history of success in the Minnesota aggregate and asphalt industry. The position involves providing inspection, testing services, and documentation of aggregates and asphalt mixtures for plant facilities. The role also includes developing and maintaining relationships with key customers, facility managers, DOT personnel, State, County, and Municipal personnel, and processing aggregate samples according to certified testing procedures while evaluating the results for compliance with specifications.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 2+ years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in building materials and/or construction industry preferred.
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures.
  • Must have valid driver's license and meet the qualifications of the fleet safety program.
  • Required to get applicable DOT Aggregate and Bituminous certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in building materials and/or construction industry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee QC Technicians in daily operations.
  • Oversee plant testing protocol.
  • Oversee and help perform all laboratory functions and help transport samples to the lab.
  • Use accepted methods to inspect, sample, and test aggregates for the purpose of quality control.
  • Sample and test aggregates for compliance with contract specifications and quality control tolerance.
  • Monitor and test process functions and materials daily to ensure products meet or exceed requirements.
  • Prepare and record accurate information; maintain test results database.
  • Obtain required certifications in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all laboratory equipment, keeping track of all certification paperwork.
  • Follow quality control plans and guidelines as assigned.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform general cleaning of work areas.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
