QC Lab Technician

The Middlesex Corporation is a nationally recognized leader in the heavy civil construction industry, specializing in building and reconstructing highways, bridges, marine, rail, and transit facilities. The Quality Control Lab Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of materials used in the manufacturing of asphalt. This position involves performing inspections, checks, and tests to ensure compliance with applicable specifications. The technician will be responsible for conducting tests on aggregate and asphalt, cutting core samples from roadways, and providing verbal and written test results to the QC Manager and staff. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, as the technician will actively promote and comply with all safety policies and procedures, reporting any accidents or incidents to maintain a safe working environment. In addition to testing and reporting, the Quality Control Lab Technician will perform mathematical calculations to verify physical and volumetric properties of materials. Daily communication with the QC Technician/Manager and the Roadway Technician is essential to ensure accurate calculations of pay factors and tonnage totals on daily lab reports. The technician must maintain a flexible work schedule, allowing for travel to different facilities as needed. This position requires a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the capacity to adapt to various personalities and management styles. The technician will rely on their experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals effectively.
