This is a position at the Thorlabs Ultrafast Optoelectronics (UFO) division in Ann Arbor, MI. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting raw materials and precision components from suppliers to ensure compliance with Thorlabs’ quality standards and engineering specifications before they enter the production process. This position will also perform quality inspections on outgoing finished products and assist with incoming and outgoing RMA items. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product quality and vendor compliance within a high-precision manufacturing environment. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Perform visual, functional, and dimensional inspections on electrical, mechanical and optical components using tools such as (e.g., microscope, calipers, micrometers, gauges). Verify parts against engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances. Accurately document inspection results and maintain quality records. Make quick, accurate pass/fail decisions on a wide variety of precision parts. Communicate effectively with engineering, procurement, and production teams regarding nonconforming materials. Work with RMA coordinator on incoming and outgoing RMA items. Perform quality inspections on outgoing finished goods. Support continuous improvement and corrective action activities related to supplier quality. Must maintain a safe and clean working environment through compliance with procedures, policies and regulations In addition to the essential functions and duties listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
