Position Overview: As our Quality Control (QC) Engineer you will provide QC engineering support for projects including next generation nuclear reactor design; reactor component development and fabrication; and advanced manufacturing technology development. Location: On-site in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering is required.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must have demonstrated understanding of dimensional inspection techniques.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret complex drawings including understanding of ANSI Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must have knowledge of inspection tools, systems, techniques and NDE methods.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency in generating technical reports and presentations using MS Office Applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with product development and prototyping is desired.
  • Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, NQA-1, ASME NCA-4000 and NASA is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inspection and test plans, as well as work packages, including the determination of inspection methods.
  • Write, review, and qualify inspection procedures.
  • Assist with the development of manufacturing plans.
  • Assist the design team with the identification of test methods for design verification and validation activities.
  • Oversee dimensional inspection personnel and perform inspections as necessary.
  • Research, evaluate, and qualify new inspection equipment and techniques.
  • Support current inspection equipment and systems.
  • Provide support and oversight for engineering, development, and testing activities.
  • Participate in review and disposition of nonconformances.
  • Prepare QA data packages.
  • Assist in identifying quality requirements for procurements and review supplier proposals.
  • Review supplier inspection plans and procedures.
  • Review supplier quality documentation.
  • Perform source inspections and surveillances at suppliers.
  • Create/maintain metrics for inspection.
  • Support additional assignments by management.
