Quality Control Engineer. Provides professional metallurgical quality control engineering services and technical support involving technical quality, in-process quality, and customer service for all areas of stainless steel production and provides quality control services related to the production of stainless steel. Supporting total quality program to improve cost, productivity, yields and customer requirements in both the Flat Products Group and the Long Products Groups focusing on both internal quality and external quality. Develops, defines and implements standardized practices to ensure consistent and repetitive process routing for maximum quality, productivity, and yields. Operates within NAS quality standards and relevant industry standards, such as ASTM, ASME, AMS; and customer product specifications. Review daily internal quality of stainless steel products, including Melt Shop, Hot Rolling, or Cold Rolling products and monitor material performance and analyze product failure data. Review and resolve technical claims related to the quality of stainless steel. Assist in determining appropriate corrective actions. Studies and researches customer product needs to insure the proper application of products to meet the specific customer end use requirements and maximize customer relationships. Communicates customer requirements in order to maximize understanding of customer's needs and increase customer service through fewer errors, claims or complaints, including identifying critical needs of the customer, communicating these critical needs to the proper section within the organization, and monitoring and controlling the critical needs during the various stages of production. Provide customer technical support involving new products or products sold to the customer. Providing technical assistance and support through the use of metallurgical laboratory equipment and facilities for the production of stainless steel. Looks for ways to improve and promote quality, demonstrates accuracy, and thoroughness and engages in continues improvement projects to obtain these goals. Leading corrective and preventative action projects for quality deviations related to the production of stainless steel. Identifying and leading continuous improvement projects related to the production of stainless steel. Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science is required. Five years of experience as a Materials Engineer or Technical Customer Service Engineer is required. Proficiency in providing quality control monitoring and tracking services related to the production of stainless steel as shown by five years of experience in this area. Proficiency in identifying and leading continuous improvement projects related to the production of stainless steel as shown by five years of experience in this area. Proficiency in leading corrective and preventative action projects for quality deviations related to the production of stainless steel as shown by five years of experience in this area. Proficiency in providing technical assistance and support through the use of metallurgical laboratory equipment and facilities for the production of stainless steel as shown by five years of experience in this area.
