About The Position

The QC Analyst I performs daily laboratory operations, routine and non-routine testing, in-process monitoring, and communication of results to support production and product release. This position will ensure with the Quality team that all quality programs meet or exceed BRC, FSMA, and HACCP standards as well as all other regulatory, customer and company related quality and food safety requirements. The QC Analyst I will also support the quality release of finished goods, raw material, confirmation of reformulation of existing products and support the quality review process for confirming all products produced are consistent with the quality and sensory attributes.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • 1+ years of related manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with special ability to work independently and establish work priorities with team members.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills to consider and identify the strengths and weakness of alternative solutions and choose the most appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively and in a way that other Team Members will understand.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and work-related documents.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, chemistry, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • QA experience within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control principles and analysis techniques to maximize the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of scientific principles and practices that provide the foundation for laboratory testing including microbiology and chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Open the lab and complete daily start-up checklist.
  • Calibrate pH meters and perform temperature checks.
  • Coordinate with Production at shift start.
  • Composite finished products for testing, sensory, and retains.
  • Perform routine testing for COA release.
  • Conduct in-process testing and prepare samples for the Analytical Department.
  • Communicate results to Production and Quality teams.
  • Perform non-routine testing for Applications, R&D, stability work, and chronological studies.
  • Submit samples for third-party testing.
  • Complete biweekly housekeeping checklist and weekly balance verification.
  • Complete weekly ATP swabbing of the plant and report findings at monthly Food Safety Team Meeting
  • Assist Production as needed (e.g., packaging).
  • Perform sensory preparation and testing.
  • Support additional sampling requests from Sales and other departments.
