About The Position

The position involves inspecting parts, products, and processes to ensure they meet customer requirements and company standards. Responsibilities include verifying the conformance of materials and products using various measuring and inspection instruments, ensuring job set-up accuracy prior to production, and using work orders and drawings to determine final product conformance. The role also includes performing dock audits of finished goods, conducting first article inspections, calibrating measuring tools, inspecting customer returns for non-conformance, and providing technical support to operations while assisting in lean manufacturing initiatives. Additionally, the position supports ISO9001 activities.

Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience in general warehouse operations.
  • Must have current experience performing dimensional inspection of products in a manufacturing environment using basic measuring equipment and coordinate measurement systems.
  • Prior experience working in a quality control or assurance role is preferred.
  • Prepares rejection notices and verifies defects on return material.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Education: Associates degree in quality engineering, industrial engineering or related field of study preferred. Non-degree candidates with equivalent experience in the following areas may be considered: inspection, machine operation, programming, warehouse supervision, and/or training.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS D1.1 welding specification knowledge.
  • Prior experience working in an ISO9001 quality management system.
  • Familiarity working with ASTM, AISI or similar customer specifications.
  • Prior PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect parts, products and/or processes to ensure conformance with customer requirements and/or company standards.
  • Verify conformance of materials/products using appropriate measuring/inspection instruments including fixed and variable gauges and coordinate measurement systems.
  • Verify job set-up accuracy prior to production operations to ensure product conformity.
  • Use applicable work orders, drawings and similar acceptance criteria to determine final product conformance with applicable requirements and company workmanship standards.
  • Perform dock audits of finished goods as directed to determine outgoing quality level of products with required dimensional, cosmetic, packaging and labeling criteria.
  • Perform first article inspection of products and support company PPAP activities.
  • Perform calibration of basic measuring tools and maintain calibration database.
  • Inspect customer returned material to verify/confirm product non-conformance.
  • Provide technical support to operations and assist in company lean manufacturing/continual improvement initiatives.
  • Perform ISO9001 support activities.
