About The Position

The position involves inspecting parts, products, and processes to ensure they meet customer requirements and company standards. The role requires verifying the conformance of materials and products using various measuring and inspection instruments, including fixed and variable gauges and coordinate measurement systems. Additionally, the individual will verify job set-up accuracy prior to production operations to ensure product conformity. The responsibilities also include using applicable work orders, drawings, and acceptance criteria to determine final product conformance with requirements and company workmanship standards. The position entails performing dock audits of finished goods to assess the outgoing quality level of products based on dimensional, cosmetic, packaging, and labeling criteria. The individual will conduct first article inspections and support company PPAP activities, as well as perform calibration of basic measuring tools and maintain a calibration database. Inspecting customer returned materials to confirm product non-conformance and providing technical support to operations while assisting in lean manufacturing and continual improvement initiatives are also key responsibilities. Lastly, the role includes performing ISO9001 support activities.

Requirements

  • Must have 2 years of experience in general warehouse operations.
  • Must have current experience performing dimensional inspection of products in a manufacturing environment using basic measuring equipment and coordinate measurement systems.
  • Prior experience working in a quality control or assurance role is preferred.
  • Prepares rejection notices and verifies defects on return material.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Education: Associates degree in quality engineering, industrial engineering or related field of study preferred. Non-degree candidates with equivalent experience in the following areas may be considered: inspection, machine operation, programming, warehouse supervision, and/or training.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS D1.1 welding specification knowledge.
  • Prior experience working in an ISO9001 quality management system.
  • Familiarity working with ASTM, AISI or similar customer specifications.
  • Prior PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA experience.
