About The Position

This document will identify the job that the Quality Assurance Technician performs and outlines the correct procedures that will ensure the safety of the employees and/or others, while preserving product quality and traceability. Scope The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all the products that are packaged in the plant are safe to consume and have the highest standards of quality and for ensure that each product packaged meet or exceeds the customer’s specifications. Personal hygiene and safety are paramount. Sanitation guidelines and GMPs must be followed. This includes but it is not limited to wearing a clean uniform t-shirt, long pants and closed shoes/safety shoes, following all GMP, SQF and HACCP policies. Product Quality and HACCP Role and Responsibilities: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring that monitoring of the Critical Control Points in the facility is being carried out, stopping the lines when issues occur, ensuring that issues are corrected and contained before resuming work and following the established corrective actions when any deviation from the CCPs is detected. The following is a list of responsibilities and expectations assigned to the QA Lead position. Provide back up to the Quality Specialists when required using SQF-2-1P34 Job Description and SOP for Quality Specialist. The Quality Assurance Technician are following all quality procedures daily (monitor daily paperwork and/or Product Quality Forms for accuracy and completeness). Monitor the production and packaging lines and ensure product specifications are being met. Communicate information, issues and concerns to supervisors and/or managers. Monitor weights, product appearance, labeling of sachets/pouches, and case labeling for accuracy according to the job aid. Responsible for shutting down the lines/area when specifications, and policies/ procedures are not followed until product specifications or satisfactory conditions are met and/or working with the assigned quality specialist to place product on QA Hold. Responsible for updating and modifying the assigned quality related spreadsheets when required (as assigned by QA Manager) GMP/SQF Role and Responsibilities: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for daily monitoring of GMP’s and SQF practices ensuring that the policies are being carried out. The Quality Assurance Technician has the authority to stop the lines and notify the Quality Manager and Plant Manager when practices are unacceptable. Sampling and Samples - Role and Responsibilities: The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for collecting, maintaining and sending out product samples when required. Retain Samples: Organize and store the retained samples in a manner where they will be readily available upon request. Complete any additional task assigned by the supervisors or managers as required. Responsible for covering responsibilities of this position in case of the absence of the primary person: Product Quality and HACCP – Quality Specialists GMP/SQF Role – Quality Specialists Sampling and Samples – Quality Specialists Training – Quality Manager Safety Role – Quality Specialists
