About The Position

The QA Supervisor for the commissary program is responsible for ensuring that all food products prepared, stored, and distributed from the facility meet strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role requires oversight of daily operations, compliance with food safety protocols, and continuous improvement of quality assurance processes to maintain product integrity and consistency across all outputs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in food science/technology/microbiology, Animal Science, Engineering or related field
  • 2 years experience in a food manufacturing environment required.
  • Food Safety certification: HACCP, SERV Safe Manager certification or equivalent.
  • Functional food safety expert in RTE manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of food safety, food microbiology, manufacturing processes, food regulations, sanitary design and quality management.
  • Experience in nutrition generating software.
  • Experience or proven ability to apply science-based technical knowledge to critical food safety programs (e.g. CCP and preventative control validations, etc.).
  • Computer literate with proficiency in, but not limited to: Microsoft Office Applications, Visio, etc.
  • Proficiency in problem solving techniques
  • Ability to work and interact effectively with other departments in the organization
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment with respect and sensitivity for diversity

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to standardized recipes, portioning, and product quality.
  • Evaluate, maintain, and update food safety and quality documents, including SOPs, HACCP plans, and inspection records.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations (e.g., FDA, USDA, or local equivalents).
  • Maintain awareness of current and evolving food safety considerations, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure all processes are safe for producing food products.
  • Review and update product labels to ensure accurate reflection of ingredients and allergen information.
  • Identify, develop, train, and support execution of food safety programs, controls, and policies aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide active food safety leadership in new product development initiatives, ensuring safe design and execution.
  • Interpret sensitive food safety related technical information and provide objective, science-based recommendations.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage team members, providing training on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate with production, culinary, and inventory teams to resolve quality or safety issues efficiently.
  • Assign and oversee daily QA tasks and inspections across the platform/facility.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product quality, efficiency, and safety processes; implement corrective actions and track effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to assess ingredient quality and compliance with standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed QA reports, including product inspections, lab tests, and non-compliance incidents.
  • Assist with weekends, holidays, and outside working hours as needed to support operations.
