Your Opportunity The QA Receiving Technician samples inbound/outbound ingredient trucks, prepares samples for analytical testing, performs basic analytical procedures and general laboratory sanitation, along with accurate record keeping. Assures compliance with established procedures relative to quality, productivity and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Basic computer experience preferred able to recognize critical areas of the mill feed/ingredient quality control system.
  • Able to speak English.
  • Must have the ability to complete required applicable forms in English, which requires the ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
  • Must be supportive of the mission of producing high quality pellet feed.

Responsibilities

  • Follows standard operating instructions/procedures in the performance of the QA Job, along with record keeping.
  • Identifies any problems or improvements and works with facility manager to find solutions.
  • Deals proficiently with customers on a daily basis.
  • Operates all area equipment/tools (computer, grinders, tools, etc.)
  • Prepares and maintains shift activity reports, tracks inbound/outbound reports, sampling reports, non-conformance products, etc.
  • Performs housekeeping duties as requested by the supervisor, also is responsible for keeping designated area clean and supports co-workers in other areas (scales).
  • Samples and inspects inbound ingredient trucks.
  • Splits and grinds samples for analytical testing.
  • Maintains retention sample inventory.
  • Performs basics analytical procedures; such as moisture, particle size, NIR, etc.
  • Maintains and ensures the safety of all employees and assets of the company.
  • Acquires and maintains necessary certifications (weigh master, fork lift, etc.).
  • Maintains and ensures the orderliness and housekeeping of the area.
  • Responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which Smithfield subscribes.
  • Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company EMS policies and procedures in the performance of their job duties.
  • Reports all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Reads and understands the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
