About The Position

Overview of Job Description: Inspect and report on inbound container shipments in accordance with guidelines and protocols established by Design, Purchasing and Product Optimization/Quality Assurance departments. Conduct inspections in-progress on Production lines for damaged product and work to minimize damage by providing solutions for prevention. Monitor and manage damaged (scrapped) inventory while interfacing with General Manager, Purchasing, Production and Warehouse departments to identify root cause and decision and disposition for damaged inventory. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Approved Production Samples Participate in daily reviews of re-usable production samples with Purchasing, Design and Product Optimization. Track comments, notes and approvals. Set up and maintain Approved Production Samples in appropriate warehouse locations. Ensure all approved samples are accounted for. Have accurate listing of Approved Samples (AS) that are needed and request them from Product Optimization working area if any are missing before container arrival. Inbound Inspection Responsible for conducting quality inspections of First Articles arriving on inbound shipping containers or via other delivery methods. Follow Inspection Process as detailed in Quality Assurance Receiving Inspection Manual. Conduct testing as required for each product, including conformance to signed Production Sample, inspection for insects, and measurement of moisture as needed. Evaluate First Articles for conformance to approved production samples and communicate approval for release from Quality First article (QFA) hold or escalate non-conformances to Product Optimization/Quality Assurance Management for exceptions or acceptance determination. Quality Alerts If First Article is non-conforming for various reasons, Quality Alert Standard Operation Procedure is initiated as detailed in Quality Assurance Receiving Inspection Manual and Document Control. Manage rework personnel when assigned to QA Department. Accurate reporting of rework status. Damaged Product Disposition Identify damaged items on the production lines and coordinate with various departments to minimize this damage. Assist Management in setting parameters for damages: Acceptable, Unacceptable and Maybe. Follow up as needed to ensure that production assembly teams are following sort parameters. Assure that Warehouse Line Support removes damages from Production lines and properly separates them in return area by QA standards: 1) Acceptable 2) Unacceptable 3) Save for employee sale 4) Donation. Train assembly workers and others to correctly identify what is damaged or not unusable compared to good usable items. Use daily damage report to prioritize investigation of causes. Summarize on a weekly basis the damaged products requiring decision/disposition and prepare to meet weekly or as needed on site with GM, QA Manager, Director of Operations to make save/hold/scrap/rework decisions as each situation is determined. Administrative and Other Responsibilities: Maintain accurate inspections, damage, rework and disposition records in accordance with WA Requirements. Track and update Approved Production Samples. Communicate inspections Results, Quality Issues. Ensure forms and logs are properly completed, filled and accessible for review.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in quality assurance related work is required. Familiarity with SOP’s, Inspection Manuals and QA Documentation.
  • Attention to detail, with ability to accurately inspect and evaluate finished goods, visually and by comparison to written document.
  • Demonstrates team working skills. Includes the ability to demonstrate a fair and consistent application of quality standards with all employees.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, solve problems and create solutions and improvements as needed during production processes.
  • Ability to work independently and on the production floor.
  • Good verbal communication skill required.
  • Reading and writing skills required.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) is helpful.
  • Additional education or training in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing or related field preferred.
