About The Position

The Senior QA/QC Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring construction projects meet our General Contractor partners and our clients’ high standards of quality, compliance, and efficiency. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the project quality control program required for our Data Center Business Unit. This includes overseeing all QA/QC functions, procedures, and controls within the organization. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring the performance of daily QA/QC responsibilities that drive conformance with project standards and requirements. The Senior QA/QC Manager will oversee all project/client documentation and inspection requirements to ensure compliance with our General Contractor partner, the client, and all other required standards. A successful Senior QA/QC Manager will be confident and able to work effectively and communicate with clients, subcontractors, and people at all levels within our company. This will involve proactively building relationships and adding value to both internal and external partners.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience: 10+ years of construction QA/QC experience of similar scale and complexity.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing QA/QC functions in a similar capacity.
  • At least 5 years working with a General Contractor building data centers.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical work.
  • Must have proven expertise with a broad range of general construction and inspection processes and testing protocols/procedures (including ASTM, ANSI, APWA, ACI).
  • Skills: Excellent organizational skills, including a methodical and detail-oriented approach to ensure project QC documentation is complete and procedures are adhered to, ensuring issues are closed and project risks are mitigated.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Control: Develop and implement quality management systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations along with owner requirements. Create, document, and distribute QA/QC checklists, inspections, punch lists, and quality reports. The primary focus will be on Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) scopes of work.
  • Quality Management Platform Administration: Work within the General Contractor partner and/or Owner-mandated Quality platform to build, manage, and oversee checklist development, asset/issue management, and all other necessary functions.
  • Project Oversight: Monitor QA/QC program effectiveness and work to continuously improve the project quality control program. Monitor construction activities, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to quality specifications. This includes training and oversight of internal and external resources to ensure quality expectations are understood and upheld.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance efficiency and reduce defects. Develop a system to track quality metrics and track our quality on all projects.
  • Team Leadership: Mentorship and leadership of Project Engineers, Project Managers, Superintendents, and other project team members is a key responsibility of this position. Train and mentor team members (both internal and external to the quality team), fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Organize, build, and manage peak-performing teams at each General Contractor partner site.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to align quality objectives with project goals. Communicate clear expectations to the project team. When the situation warrants, direct involvement in site activities and an ability to “roll up your sleeves” will be necessary.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions to support compliance and future improvements through company operational software. Supervise inspection and reporting processes within our project teams and review the documentation issued by 3rd party inspectors.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with client representatives by communicating/demonstrating the General Contractor partner’s commitment to Quality in a way that inspires confidence.
  • Other: Assist in other duties as assigned, relevant to the achievement of the position’s and team’s objectives.
