About The Position

Established in 1919 and traded on the NYSE, Standard Motor Products, Inc. SCOPE OF POSITION: Under direction of Shipping Manager, audit outbound shipments for quality and accuracy. Will also perform clerical tasks including closing of work orders in the packaging department, serving as backup for positions in shipping office, or assisting the Safety Manager.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and follow directions.
  • Must be able to walk and /or stand for prolonged periods in a Distribution Center.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs., at times 80 lbs. and perform significant bending, stooping and reaching.
  • Typical weight for individual picking parts pulled from locations is 3 to 5 lbs, but would need to lift shipping carton off skid prior to shipping which weighs an average of 60 to 80 lbs.
  • Typical weight when putting stock away is 40 lbs or less when performing the material handling portion.
  • Must be able to pull wheeled pallet cart weighing up to 200 lb.

Responsibilities

  • Audit outbound shipments for picking, packing and labeling accuracy.
  • Report all detected product related issues to management staff for resolution.
  • Record audit findings and make entries into audit logs.
  • Assist Management with clerical duties as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write and follow directions.
  • Maintain a safe work area and perform safe practice.
  • Participate in and support all team functions.
  • Learn Picking and Box Handling jobs, for training purposes.
  • Train employees to pick or box handling duties.
  • Perform other quality or clerical related duties as necessary.
