About The Position

OVERVIEW : QA Lead is responsible for assisting the QA Supervisor in leading the QA team, setting the team up in positions to succeed, monitoring performance, assisting in hands-on production, and filling in for supervisors when they are away from the department.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma/ or equivalent required.
  • Eager willingness to learn, flexibility required.
  • Must be able to have a flexible schedule, work weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated.
  • Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
  • Can perform basic mathematics and literacy.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Basic computer operation skills.
  • Know how to effectively manage time to complete all assigned tasks.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with other hourly employees, plant management, and USDA personnel.
  • Work standing or walking for most working shifts.
  • Perform physical duties such as: pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, and walking.
  • Be able to work in cold environments (32°F or less).
  • Knowledge of GMP's. Prior experience in Quality Control.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as right hand to Quality Supervisor.
  • Leads the production team and is a good example for others.
  • Mentors and motivates team members.
  • Assists in maximizing individual and group productivity.
  • Makes basic decisions regarding product flow, routine production functions, use of resources, and placement of employees.
  • Ensures that all team members have appropriate, well-functioning tools for their jobs.
  • Monitors the team's performance in terms of efficiency and quality.
  • Troubleshoots fundamental departmental operations; Assumes a common-sense approach to problem solving.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers.
  • Fosters positive, productive working relationships among team members.
  • Monitors individual team members to identify challenges; Addresses through additional training and demonstration (possibly with Onboarding Specialist.) Develops the team to ensure it consistently performs at the required level.
  • Serves as the communication link between the front-line employees and supervisor; Frequently reports progress and issues to supervisor.
  • Enforces all safety and process standards, Relays safety violations to supervisor. Fills in for supervisor when (s)he is away from the department.
  • Assists in performing hands-on production.
  • Acts as communications hub for the team; Disseminates pertinent and timely information.
  • Assists supervisor with process improvements and development initiatives. Provides input to supervisor regarding employees' performance.
  • Works online when needed.
  • Performs process checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation, and warehousing functions of the company, including pre-operational checks, sanitation verification, label checks, water activity testing, net weight checks, and package integrity checks.
