About the position

The QA Lead is responsible for overseeing quality assurance technicians and inspectors in a poultry processing environment. This role ensures compliance with quality and food safety programs, conducts inspections, and communicates effectively with production leadership and management to address any issues. The position requires strong leadership skills and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety in the processing plant.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality assurance technicians and ensure they complete tasks according to policies and programs.
  • Supervise quality inspectors to ensure inspections are conducted according to product specifications.
  • Assist quality assurance technicians and inspectors by communicating issues identified to production leadership.
  • Verify the implementation of HACCP, SSOP, and SPS programs during processing and communicate issues to the QA supervisor and site management.
  • Conduct daily record review and filing.
  • Complete internal GMP, Glass and Brittle plastic, and pest control audits.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the QA manager or QA supervisor.

Requirements

  • Previous poultry experience in a co-packing or further processing plant.
  • Experience completing HACCP, SSOP, and SPS inspections.
  • Experience with organic, PVP inspections, and understanding of segregation programs.
  • Experience verifying the implementation of quality and food safety programs according to policy.
  • Previous experience in pre-operational inspections and quality inspections.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Experience in label review and identifying missing or incorrect items.
  • Good communication skills with peers, management, and USDA inspectors.
  • Basic computer skills in Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Demonstrated excellent employee relation skills.
  • Previous experience managing a group of people, preferably Quality Assurance technicians or SPC inspectors.
  • Experience with BRC, Organic, and PVP audit documentation preparation.
  • Strong integrity and work ethic.
  • Good math and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within quality assurance.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
