Company: Cobb This position is responsible for testing and inspecting quality and practices at all stages of chick processing and complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain reliability of the hatchery’s outgoing quality level to assure chick quality standards are being met. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience: 6 months related experience preferred.
  • Excel and CHS experience preferred.
  • Must use safe lifting techniques.
  • Must regularly lift/stack boxes of chicks weighing up to 15-17 pounds.
  • Must regularly push/pull a stack of 10 boxes of chicks on a wheeled dolly weighing up to approximately 150-170 pounds.
  • Must be able to bend to pick up boxes.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.
  • Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
  • When using chemicals this position will be required to use: safety goggle, chemical gloves, waterproof apron and rubber boots.
  • Safety glasses are required.
  • Will be trained to recognize and comply with all safety policies.
  • Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include, but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Team member is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.

Responsibilities

  • Weigh and check chick quality for each house.
  • Check chick quality every hour (30%).
  • The morning of hatch, check CHS for changes on orders (15%).
  • Check robots and injects for bad birds (15%).
  • Check orders on the board for daily processing (15%).
  • Must be able to read, write and perform simple math to enter hatch summary in the computer in order to compile and evaluate statistical data (15%).
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.
  • Cleans chick weighing scales and coccivac machines and mixes vaccine.
  • Properly euthanize weak/ill chicks in accordance with company policy (10%).
